In 2025, we’re celebrating 20 years of our beloved library building — a place where stories come alive, ideas are shared, and our community continues to grow together.
To mark this milestone, we’re hosting a full month of special events, beginning with Welcome Remarks and a special presentation from the Lunenburg Historical Society on Friday, October 3rd. Whether you’re a longtime patron or a new visitor, we invite you to celebrate this special anniversary with us!

As part of the celebration, we’re excited to launch a writing contest for all ages! This year’s theme is: Why do we need the Lunenburg Public Library?
Deadline: September 25, 2025
The contest includes four age categories: 0-5, 6-12, 13-17, and 18+. This will ensure everyone—from young readers to lifelong learners—has a chance to share their voice!
Entries (limited to one page) are due by Thursday, September 25. They can be emailed to flplanniversary@gmail.com or submitted in person at the library circulation desk.
For each entry, please include:
- Author’s age
- Author’s full name
- Contact information
- Your response to our writing prompt:

20th Anniversary Welcome Remarks & LHS Presentation!
Friday, October 3, 6:00 – 7:30 PM
We’re kicking off our month-long celebration with welcoming remarks from volunteers who have been working on the 20th Anniversary project, as well as a presentation by the Lunenburg Historical Society on the history of our town’s libraries.
We will also announce the winners of our writing contest, award prizes, and provide an overview of upcoming events.
Refreshments will be served courtesy of Hollis Hills Farm. Thank you!

Library of Services Fundraiser
October 3-24
Don’t miss our unique “Library of Services” fundraiser running through October 3-24!
Patrons can purchase donated services offered by generous local businesses and volunteers, with all proceeds supporting the Friends of the Lunenburg Public Library.
Visit the display of services for sale by the library’s front desk and make your purchases there. Each auctioned item will have a recommended value on it, but it’s up to you to select what’s best for you.
New services are added regularly, so check back often and see what’s here! It’s a fun and meaningful way to support the library while discovering the talents of our vibrant community.

Scavenger Hunt Adventure
October 3-24
Help us celebrate 20 years in our library building with a special Scavenger Hunt Adventure for all ages! Explore the library, solve clues, and discover hidden surprises in a fun, interactive way.
There are three scavenger hunt tracks designed just for you:
Children’s Room Hunt – Perfect for our youngest explorers! Find kid-friendly clues hidden throughout the Children’s Room.
Teen Room Hunt – A cool quest for tweens and teens! Use your wits to crack the code and uncover secrets in the Teen Room.
Adult Challenge Hunt – Up for a challenge? This version covers the entire library and is perfect for puzzle lovers and local history buffs.
Each completed scavenger hunt card = 1 entry into our 20th Anniversary Raffle!
Winners will be drawn during our Anniversary Closing Celebration on October 24th – don’t miss it!

20th Anniversary of the Building: Closing Birthday Party!
Friday, October 24, 5:00 – 6:30 pm
To close out the month of commemorations, we invite you all to join us for a big library birthday party at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 24th. We’ll have cake, activities for all ages, and maybe even a visit from a clown or two!
At the end of the party, we will announce the winners of the scavenger hunt raffles and move the festivities to the main hall of the library for a Jazzukulele concert by Paul and Paula Luria.
Join us for what will be a spectacular evening of fun capping off 20 years of our beautiful library building!
